Red Hot Chili Peppers have been quietly working on new music for a little while now, and they’ve just unveiled some exciting news! Bassist Flea reveals in a new interview that the band is almost ready to hit the studio for their next effort.
The bassist tells Rolling Stone, “We’ve been writing and rehearsing, rolling up our sleeves, getting in the studio and doing it. We’re nearly finished writing. We’ll go in the studio sometime in the next couple of months.”
At present, Flea says the group has penned more than 30 tracks that they’ll sift through before settling on a final track listing. Speaking about the direction of the music, the bassist offered, “It’s cool. It’s super danceable, funky s–t and some real introspective, pretty stuff. It feels good, man, and it’s fun to play.”
Though the bassist did not lay out a timeline for the disc, Flea did suggest that he would hope that by this time next year, Red Hot Chili Peppers would have their new disc out and be on a world tour.
